Steve T. recalls that up until the age of three, his grandmother regularly spoke to him in Japanese, a language he subsequently never studied or came into contact with again.  But in his late 40’s he decided to enroll in a beginner Japanese course.  “Although it had been years since I had last heard or spoken the language, I found that I could hear the subtle pronunciation differences, and words slowly started to pop back into my memory.”
